Valentine's Day -- The Morning After

Yvel Clovis

Ummm...Ok. So, yesterday wasn't how I would've typically spent my Valentine's Day. Normally, my girlfriend and I would go to the city and spend quality time with each other at our favorite restaurant, Natsumi -- the best Japanese/Italian place on Earth. But I digress.

Here's a piece of advice for my fellow gentleman: When that special someone in your life tells you not to get them anything for Valentine's Day -- IGNORE IT!  Please, for the sake of God (I don't mean to use His name in vein), don't listen to her. You'll wish there was a morning after pill for that dumb decision.

As a matter of fact, just do the complete opposite. Like, when she tells you to go ahead and hang out with your friends that night, what she's really saying, err, yelling, is "I dare you."

Back to the point I'm trying to make. Although we have the type of relationship where almost everyday is Valentine's Day -- we're still lovey-dovey, I should have went that extra mile after I got off from work at 10:30 pm and brought the roses and cards. I definitely don't take her for granted after 5 1/2 years (tempus fugit). Just another daily reminder to always give roses while they can still smell them because what if I didn't wake up the morning after? What if she didn't wake up?

Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That’s relativity.
